Rating Images

Each image that allows ratings has a list of numbers, from 1 to 10, aboev the image view. To rate an image, you must be signed in, and alloed to rate the particular image. Just click on the number above the image, and your rating will be recorded. A "1" is the lowest rating, and means that the image is truly terrible, while a "10" is the highest rating, and means the image is absolutely spectacular. When rating an image with a "3" or below, you will be asked to give some feedback as to why you believe the image is so bad. The feedback you provide through that pop-up will stay anonymous, and hence you do not have to fear retribution for speaking your mind.
We highly encourage all members to rate images fairly!Attempts to tamper with our rating system will result in various levels of penalties, up to a complete ban from the site. You should always feel free to rate as you feel, but not based on who has created the image, or whether or not you have a personal grudge against the person, but the quality and artistic value of the image, and how the image (not the artist) appeals to you.

What are Ratings Used For?

Ratings are used for a variety of features on EyeFetch. The primary purpose of ratings is to give the artist a quick view of how an image is perceieved by a varied audience, and maybe watch their rating averages improve as their skill improves over time. Ratings also allow us to organize images through different features to help our members to explore images, apply our EyeRank algorithm, and hand out image awards. Image Awards

Image Awards are automatically handed out every night for a variety of factors. Currently (as of 01/14/2006), we hand out four different image awards every night:
- The top-10 overall rated images, based on the average rating cast (minimum of 4 ratings required)
- The top-10 rated image that were submitted in the past 30 days, based on the average rating cast (minimum of 4 ratings required)
- The top-10 rated images that were submitted in the past 7 days, based on the average rating cast (minimum of 4 ratings required)
- The top-100 images based on EyeRank.
Images that are in the "Hall of Fame" are excluded from receiving further awards (more details in the next section).
By clicking the golden trophy icon that shows next to images that have received an award, you can see the award details for the image, and the date the awards were given.

Hall of Fame

Once an image has received a fixed number of awards (currently 40) it is automatically inducted into the "Hall of Fame", where it will be displayed forever, unless the artist decides to remove the image from EyeFetch. Images in the "Hall of Fame" are excluded from receiving any further awards.
