Photographer's Notes
Yes, unknown to most, the Monarch Butterfly is usually avoided by predators, it being poisonous if consumed. This shot was taken at Jones Beach, Long Island during the Fall which is a flyway for the Monarch;s annual migration. to Florida and Mexico. The Milkweed plants are plentiful along the beach and the only plant required by the Monarchs. This pic was scanned from a slide. Full screen is amazing.
